Metal Fabric Leaves

I collect fallen leaves in the autumn and use them as guides for the leaf shapes and sizes.  I cut the shapes out of stainless steel woven wire cloth, hand roll the edges and then add colour and pattern with heat.

The leaves were initially designed to be attached to my metal trees however by mounting them on metal pins they can be arranged to create wall installations (see 'Fallen' in the leaf gallery). The pin allows the leaf forms to be held away from the wall and different length pins create varying shadows.

I have also mounted leaves in wooden box frames.

Wire Leaves

2D and 3D wire leaves made from coloured copper and silver wire and silk, wool or linen thread with stainless steel.
